Raymond was appointed CEO of Drewcorp in 2015 and he successfully grew the firm to a team of 30 professionals, offering a full range of corporate administration services.

During his tenure, Raymond was appointed as the company secretary to a number of companies listed on the SGX Mainboard and Catalist and was regularly appointed as the independent scrutineer by a significant number of SGX-listed companies for their general meetings including the CapitaLand Group, Parkway Life REIT, iFast and Azeus.

CORPORATE RESTRUCTURING & WORKOUTS

Raymond has been involved in insolvency and corporate restructuring matters including judicial management, liquidation and schemes of arrangements. His role includes advising judicial managers and liquidators from international accounting houses; representing distressed companies in debt restructuring exercises; and guiding companies through various daily operational, management and creditor issues, helping them manage risk whilst overseeing their operations. 

Significant cases include:

i) US$16 billion debt restructuring of Asia Pulp & Paper: 

• Raymond was part of an international team of lawyers that successfully restructured the APP Group’s Indonesian and China operations. The APP Group debt restructuring was named the Singapore Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Awards 2008.

ii) S$400 million debt restructuring of Citiraya Industries Ltd: 

• Acted for the company and successfully placed the company under judicial management and thereafter relisting on the Singapore Stock Exchange.

iii) S$50 million debt restructuring of Seatown Corporation Ltd: 

• Acted for the judicial managers in working out a scheme of arrangement to restructure the company and relisting the company via a reverse takeover exercise. The restructuring of Seatown was nominated for the Singapore Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of the Year at the Asian Legal Business Awards 2008

iv) S$500 million debt restructuring of TT International Ltd: 

• Acted for the majority shareholders in the debt restructuring and the scheme of arrangement over the company.

v) Tuban Petro Group: 

• Part of legal team dealing with the restructuring of the Group’s US$1 billion debt, one of the more significant petrochemical players in Indonesia

vi) Continental Chemicals Group: 

• Part of legal team which dealt with the restructuring of the US$360 million debt through a scheme of arrangement

Raymond has also represented directors and shareholders in shareholder disputes involving breach of fiduciary duties, minority shareholder oppression, management buyout and companies winding up issues. 

ARBITRATION

Raymond has also represented clients in international arbitrations in Singapore. 

• Represented an Indonesian company in an SIAC international arbitration against an Asian government in relation to a pulp & paper project worth more than US$4.2 billion
• Represented an Indonesian company in an SIAC international arbitration against a Malaysian company involving the supply of pharmaceutical products
• Represented a Taiwanese company listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in an international arbitration which concerned issues arising from legal proceedings in Taiwan, Italy, Luxembourg and Singapore
• Represented an Indonesian company in arbitration proceedings in relation to a contract of sale of coal
